Save Big on Your Home Upgrade — Sacramento & Placer County Rebates

Last updated: 08/01/2026

Upgrading your heating, cooling, water heater, solar, battery storage, EV charger, or electrical panel? You may qualify for hundreds — or even tens of thousands — of dollars in utility rebates and state and federal incentives. Cronus Service is an approved contractor with SMUD, Roseville Electric, and PG&E — the three major utilities across our service area — and an enrolled participating contractor with California's TECH Clean California and HEEHRA programs. We help homeowners in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, and Yolo counties navigate every available program.

All contractor-claimable rebates are included as a discount on your project. When a rebate program allows the contractor to claim it on your behalf, we do — and that savings comes off your invoice at the time of installation. No waiting for a check in the mail, no chasing paperwork after the job is done. For customer-direct rebates and tax credits, we prepare all the documentation you need and walk you through the application.

Not sure which rebates apply to your address? Call us at (916) 550-3378 or request a free quote. We'll tell you exactly what you qualify for — and how much comes off your project price — before we start any work.

California State Insentives

TECH Clean California & HEEHRA

In addition to utility rebates, California runs statewide electrification programs that can stack on top of what SMUD, Roseville Electric, or PG&E offer. Cronus Service is an enrolled participating contractor with these state programs, so contractor-claimable state incentives are applied as a discount on your project the same way utility rebates are.

Important 2026 update: California's state programs have moved fast in recent months. Single-family programs are largely closed. Multifamily programs remain active in most regions. Here's exactly where things stand:

Cronus Service - Rebates

Single Family HEEHRA Rebates

TECH Clean California — Single-Family Program Status

  • Single-family heat pump HVAC incentives: Fully reserved statewide as of January 17, 2025 — no longer accepting new reservations.

  • Single-family heat pump water heater incentives: Fully reserved statewide as of November 14, 2025 — no longer accepting new reservations.

  • Single-family HEEHRA rebates: Fully reserved statewide as of February 24, 2026 — no longer accepting new income verification applications.

Multifamily HEEHRA Rebates

As of 2026, multifamily HEEHRA rebates continue to be processed, and funding remains available in most California regions for multifamily heat pump HVAC and heat pump water heater projects. If you own, manage, or are on the HOA of a multifamily property (duplex, triplex, apartment building, condo complex), your project may still qualify for significant per-unit incentives.

  • Eligible property types: Multifamily buildings with two or more dwelling units

  • Eligible upgrades: Heat pump HVAC systems, heat pump water heaters, associated electrical work

  • Application: Requires pre-approval through the TECH Clean California / HEEHRA portal — Cronus Service handles the enrollment and paperwork on your behalf

  • Contractor-claimable: Yes — applied as a discount on your project when funding is confirmed

We're actively enrolling multifamily properties into HEEHRA before funding closes. If you're a property owner or manager anywhere in our service area, call us for a same-week assessment.

How Cronus Service Helps You Claim Every Dollar

Rebate paperwork can be confusing. Programs launch, expire, and re-fund without warning. Here's how we take that off your plate:

  • Contractor-claimable rebates applied as instant discounts — because we're approved contractors with SMUD, Roseville Electric, PG&E, and enrolled with California's TECH Clean California and HEEHRA programs, any rebate that a contractor can claim on your behalf comes directly off your project price at the time of installation. No waiting for a check, no chasing paperwork.

  • Customer-direct rebates and tax credits handled for you — for rebates that must be filed by the homeowner (like induction cooktop rebates or federal tax credits), we provide all model numbers, invoices, before/after photos, and equipment specifications you need. You just submit.

  • Free rebate assessment with every quote — we tell you exactly which programs apply to your address and your project before you commit, and show you the discount amount up front.

  • In-house licensed team — no subcontractors, so every install meets rebate program requirements the first time.

  • Qualifying equipment guaranteed — we only quote systems that meet current rebate eligibility standards (SEER2, UEF, ENERGY STAR, etc.).

  • Combined savings guidance — we'll show you how to stack utility rebates with state programs, federal tax credits, and financing for the lowest out-of-pocket cost.

Important:

Rebate amounts, eligibility, and program availability are set by SMUD, Roseville Electric, PG&E, TECH Clean California, HEEHRA, the State of California, and federal agencies — not by Cronus Service. Amounts and rules change frequently. All rebates are subject to funding availability and program terms at the time of installation. Contractor-claimable rebates are applied as a discount on your project invoice. Customer-direct rebates and tax credits are paid to the homeowner by the issuing agency after application. Rebates over $600 may be reported on IRS Form 1099. Cronus Service will confirm current rebate eligibility and discount amounts with you before starting any work.

Federal Tax Credits

Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C)
Homeowners installing qualifying heat pumps and heat pump water heaters may claim a federal tax credit of up to 30% of the project cost, subject to annual caps. Note that the panel upgrade portion of this credit expired December 31, 2025 — for 2026 panel projects, rely on SMUD's Go Electric Bonus, Roseville Electric's Panel Replacement Rebate, or PG&E's Charge Ready Home program instead. Confirm current 25C rules with your tax advisor before your project. We provide all required documentation.

Residential Clean Energy Credit (25D)
Covers solar and qualifying battery storage systems (typically 3 kWh capacity or larger). The federal 30% tax credit has changed significantly in recent legislation and continues to evolve. Confirm current-year rules with your tax advisor before your project. We provide all required documentation.

Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (30C) — Deadline June 30, 2026
Provides 30% of installation cost, up to $1,000, for residential EV charger installations. This credit currently has a hard deadline of June 30, 2026. Combined with your utility EV charger rebate, a Sacramento homeowner could see over $1,600 in combined savings on a Level 2 charger install — but only if the project is completed before the deadline.

Combined savings example (SMUD customer): $600 SMUD Charge@Home rebate + $1,000 federal 30C credit = up to $1,600 in combined savings on a Level 2 EV charger install.
