Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C)
Homeowners installing qualifying heat pumps and heat pump water heaters may claim a federal tax credit of up to 30% of the project cost, subject to annual caps. Note that the panel upgrade portion of this credit expired December 31, 2025 — for 2026 panel projects, rely on SMUD's Go Electric Bonus, Roseville Electric's Panel Replacement Rebate, or PG&E's Charge Ready Home program instead. ‍Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (30C) — Deadline June 30, 2026
Provides 30% of installation cost, up to $1,000, for residential EV charger installations. This credit currently has a hard deadline of June 30, 2026. Combined with your utility EV charger rebate, a Sacramento homeowner could see over $1,600 in combined savings on a Level 2 charger install — but only if the project is completed before the deadline.
